in reflection of the 4th

as kids, we used to watch the red skelton show on saturday nights. i loved him. his gentleness, kindness, humor... he was someone in the arts i always looked up to.

i was privileged to meet red when i was in college. he was unassuming and humble in person, speaking to each of us in class with a warmth that was very real and down to earth. that's probably what captured me in the first place - his ability to be one of us and tell stories that hit home.

as we reflect on the birthday of our nation, here is one of red's stories about the pledge of allegiance and what it stands for.

happy day.....
